# How do I update my account password?

## Is it a part of your company security policy to change your passwords often? Here's how you change your account password.

2. Click on the "Change Password" button in the top right
3. On the Update Account Password screen, enter and confirm the new password
4. Enter your current password for security purposes
5. Click on Update

**What are the password requirements?**

When creating your password, please ensure it meets the following criteria:

- Minimum 9 characters – Your password must be at least 9 characters long
- At least 1 lowercase letter (a-z) – Include at least one lowercase letter
- At least 1 digit (0-9) – Include at least one number
- At least 1 uppercase or special character – Include either an uppercase letter (A-Z) or a special character such as # @ ! $ % & \*

Example of a valid password: MyP@ssw0rd1

These requirements help keep your account secure and protect your data.

**Password Best Practices**

To create a strong, secure password:

- Make it unique – Don't reuse passwords from other accounts. If one account is compromised, others remain safe
- Make it memorable but unpredictable – Consider using a passphrase made of random words, or a sentence that's meaningful to you but hard for others to guess
- Avoid common patterns – Don't use sequential numbers (123456), keyboard patterns (qwerty), or personal information like birthdays or names
- Use a password manager – Password managers can generate and securely store complex passwords for all your accounts
- Change it if compromised – If you suspect your password has been exposed, change it immediately
- Never share your password – ProcurementExpress staff will never ask for your password
